Dear Nutmeg Youth Football League Family,
First and foremost, we hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy during this tumultuous time. We certainly understand that this crisis has hit many families in a multitude of ways, and we wish the best to all of our players and their families. The Nutmeg League board recently hosted a virtual meeting and we felt it was important to reach out to the families we serve with an update during these uncertain times.
The Nutmeg League board, comprised of representatives from each of our member towns, continues to work on preparations for the 2020 season. While football seems a long way away from now, pre-season training and practices are hopefully just over three months away. It is far too early to make decisions on the start of pre-season practices or the start of the regular season so we will continue to plan under the assumption that we will be able to start these activities on time. The entirety of the Nutmeg League board is following the developments around this crisis very closely, and we will use the CDC, State and Local Governments, as well as National and Local health officials as our guide when it comes to making decisions over the coming months. Please know that the health and safety of our players and their families are the most important thing to each of us and those focal points will be the basis of our decisions/plans as we approach football season.
During this off-season, the Nutmeg League has been approached by a number of towns showing interest in joining our league. The hard work, dedication, and great brand of football the kids have put on over the past couple of years has certainly caught the eye of neighboring towns. Equally important is the family atmosphere created by each town and the parents associated with our league. Not only does the Nutmeg League offer great competition for the kids, but also a sense of community within and across towns that is unlike other football leagues in Connecticut. We thank you for helping create this atmosphere and as we speak with these other towns interested in joining our league, please know we are being selective to ensure the “kids and community first” mentality is shared by any towns we invite to join the Nutmeg League. During our off-season meetings, the board also continues to review our rules of play and work on ways to make our league better.
As updates regarding the 2020 season become available, we will certainly communicate with you. Most importantly we hope each of you remain safe and healthy during these trying times. Know that when it comes to football, the Nutmeg League board is taking into account all developments and has the safety and health of our players as the utmost priority. We greatly appreciate your continued support and wish you all the best.
